Police yesterday (July 5) arrested six illegal immigrants who were suspected to be in connection with a robbery in Tai Po on July 4.
At about 4.45 pm on July 4, three men and six women aged between 23 and 35 were robbed of their personal belongings by six men who were armed with knives and a pistol-like object in Sha Lo Tung, Tai Po.
The stolen property, including mobile phones, cameras, cash and other valuables, was worth about $54,000.
During the incident, a 36-year-old man sustaining injuries was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital for medical treatment.
Police officers were then deployed to conduct searches in the nearby areas, resulting in the arrest of nine male illegal immigrants, aged from 22 and 31, in Sheung Shui, Tai Po and Sha Tau Kok yesterday.
Six of them were later identified by the victims as the culprits in the robbery occurred in Sha Lo Tung while further investigations revealed that one of the six men and one of the remaining illegal immigrants were involved in a robbery which took place in the Tai Po Waterfront Park on June 13.
All the arrested illegal immigrants are still being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Divisional Investigation Team of Tai Po are underway.
