The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 3) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal, totaling some $79,000 on behalf of eight employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendants were Ever Elite Development Limited, Surex Investment Consultants Limited and Poon Kwai Man & Tse Yam Shing trading as Sun Hing Lung.
At today's hearing, Surex Investment Consultants Limited and Poon Kwai Man & Tse Yam Shing trading as Sun Hing Lung did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $23,687.66 and $13,035.26 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other defendant, Ever Elite Development Limited did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $42,328.19, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $170, $370 and $270 as costs in respect of the claims.
