Premier Wen visits Science Park

*******************************

Premier Wen Jiabao wrapped up his three-day visit to Hong Kong with a stop at the Hong Kong Science Park at Tai Po this morning (July 1).

Accompanied by Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa, the Premier visited the office of a semiconductor company that has recently relocated to the 22-hectare Science Park.

The park is one of five innovative projects of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. The others are the Tech Centre at Kowloon Tong, the Tai Po Industrial Estate, the Yuen Long Industrial Estate and the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.

The corporation is a government statutory body established to bring together world-class technology and highly skilled workers in a purpose-built environment to foster innovation.

The Science Park, with a total of 330,000 square meters of office space, has a business centre, conference facilities, exhibition spaces, restaurants, and retail outlets.

After the visit, the Chief Executive escorted Premier Wen to the border at Lok Ma Chau on his way to Shenzhen.
