A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (June 20) called on the public to be considerate and to comply with the hygiene regulations.
In a court case heard this morning in the Fanling Magistrates' Courts, a 66-year-old man was fined $3,000 for spitting in a public place.
The offender was found spitting on a planter at Wang Fat Lane in Yuen Long on April 19 this year.
The spokesman warned that spitting not only affected public health, but also carried serious legal consequence.
