Rainbow Technologies, a leading US provider of IT security solutions, has recently established its Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.
The Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Mike Rowse, paid a courtesy visit to Rainbow Technologies' new office at the Cyberport today (June 12). Invest Hong Kong has assisted Rainbow Technologies in its move.
"As the Internet continues to grow throughout the world, so does the potential for hacking, malicious viruses and data security risks," said the President of Asia Pacific, Rainbow Technologies, Mr Humphrey Chan.
"Rainbow has been making security simple since 1979 and we are expanding around the world to help customers protect business-critical data and applications."
Mr Chan said: "Selecting Hong Kong as the location for our Asia Pacific headquarters shows our commitment to the region and our confidence in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has a world-class business and technology infrastructure. It is the business capital of Asia and offers us proximity to key markets, a low tax rate and outstanding financial and legal systems to help us grow our business in the Asia Pacific."
Rainbow's new Hong Kong headquarters provides consolidated regional functions such as marketing, finance, channel development and customer support management.
"The Hong Kong office serves as one of Rainbow's three product fulfilment centres around the world with the other two in Europe and Southern California," said Mr Chan.
"We are especially grateful to Invest Hong Kong for their hard work and support of our efforts to establish our new presence in Hong Kong."
The Cyberport Coordinator, Mrs Betty Fung, welcomed Rainbow Technologies as a new Cyberport tenant. She said, "We are very pleased that Rainbow selected the Cyberport as its home base for the Asia Pacific. We hope that our advanced IT infrastructure and facilities will boost the company's further development, and we welcome other international IT firms to this flagship development."
Mr Rowse stressed that Hong Kong is a key business hub for the IT industry in Asia. "We offer world-class IT infrastructure, a dedicated and well-trained workforce, a transparent and business-friendly regulatory environment, as well as free flow of capital and information," he said.
"With the growth of web-based applications, IT security has become an important issue for many companies. Rainbow Technologies' establishment in Hong Kong demonstrates the market potential for IT security services. It also confirms that Hong Kong is an ideal base for the commercialisation of these technologies and can serve as a platform for introducing them to regional markets," Mr Rowse continued.
"We wish Rainbow Technologies all the success with its new operations in Hong Kong, and we hope that they will be able to further grow and expand their business throughout the region."
Rainbow Technologies, a California based and NASDAQ listed company, is a leading provider of proven information security solutions for mission-critical data and applications used in business, organisation and government computing environments. The company maintains offices throughout the world with a comprehensive network of authorised distributors.
