The Social Welfare Department (SWD) announced today (May 29) that two charitable organisations will hold flag sale concurrently in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon on May 31 (Saturday) which is a regional flag day.

Maryknoll Medical and Welfare Association, originally been allocated with flag sale in the New Territories, had informed the SWD to cancel its flag day.

The spokesman pointed out that to ensure smooth running of the regional flag day, arrangements had been made with the concerned organisations to facilitate the public to distinguish the two flag selling activities on the same day.

"The organisations are allowed to conduct flag selling activities in their respective regions only, and the flags and donation collection bags will be of different colours," he explained.

The spokesman advised members of the public to call the Department's hotline at 2343 2255 or SWD Headquarters at 2832 4311 for enquiries.

Information on the flag days of the month is also available at the Department's website at http://www.info.gov.hk/swd and ESD Life website http://www.esdlife.com.

"In case of suspected fraudulent flag day activities, the public should not make any donation and immediately report the matter to the police," he added.
