Removal and Closure of Immigration Offices and Registration of Persons Offices

An Immigration Department spokesman announced today (May 21) that in order to utilise resources more efficiently, the following offices responsible for Immigration services and Registration of Persons services will be closed with effect from  May 26, 2003 (Monday):-

i)    Immigration - Tsuen Wan Office;

ii)   Immigration - Tuen Mun Office;

iii) Immigration - Fanling Office;

iv)  Immigration - Mobile Office; and

v)   Registration of Persons - Tsuen Wan Office



     After closure of the above offices, the HKSAR passports awaiting collection at Tsuen Wan Office and Tuen Mun Office will be issued at Immigration - West Kowloon Office; and those at Fanling Office and Mobile Office will be issued at Immigration - Shatin Office and Immigration - Hong Kong Island Travel Documents Issuing Office respectively.  For the identity cards and certificates of registered particulars outstanding at Tsuen Wan Office, applicants are required to collect them at Registration of Persons - Kowloon Office.

     The above three Registration of Persons offices will move to three future Smart Identity Card Centres respectively for temporary operation from  June 23, 2003 (Monday) to August 9, 2003 (Saturday) to facilitate renovation work in the original sites.  They will move back to the original offices on  August 11, 2003 (Monday).  The temporary addresses of these offices are as follows:-
