Following is a statement issued by the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joseph W P Wong, today (May 13) on the death of Dr Kenneth Chan Nai Keong, CBE, JP, ex-Secretary for Lands and Works:
I am saddened to hear the death of Dr Kenneth Chan Nai Keong, CBE, JP, who served the Hong Kong Government from 1952 until his retirement in 1987. During his thirty-five years of service in the Hong Kong Government, Dr Chan had made a significant contribution to the formulation and improvement of the lands and works policies and the planning and co-ordination of the physical development of the territory. Since his retirement from the civil service, Dr Chan continued to show keen interest in serving the Hong Kong community.
I would like to send my deepest condolences to Dr Chan's family.
