The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (30 April 2003) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal, totalling some $87,000 on behalf of 12 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendants were Ever Elite Development Limited, Sino Team Holdings Limited and Mainland International Travel Trading Limited trading as Club House Bar & Grill Co.
At today's hearing, Mainland International Travel Trading Limited trading as Club House Bar & Grill Co. did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $8,930.57, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other defendants, namely, Ever Elite Development Limited and Sino Team Holdings Limited did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $46,140.27 and $32,536.53 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payment of $355, $430 and $270 as costs in respect of the claims.
