The Government intends to allow the Hong Kong Airport Authority to build a Permanent Aviation Fuel Facility (PAFF) at Sha Chau and Tuen Mun.
The PAFF would include a jetty about 575 metres long off the shore of Tuen Mun Area 38. Twin submarine aviation fuel pipelines, each of 500 millimetres diameter and about 4.8 kilometres long, would be required to tie into the existing twin submarine pipelines at the Aviation Fuel Receiving Facility (AFRF) at Sha Chau.
A buried subsea services corridor which includes twin aviation fuel pipelines, power/communication cables and fire service pipelines would be constructed between the jetty and the permanent aviation fuel tank farm at Tuen Mun Area 38.
The proposed PAFF would replace the existing AFRF at Sha Chau. The total area of foreshore and seabed affected is about 28.5 hectares. The construction work is scheduled to commence in mid-2004 for completion by end-2006.
A notice describing the extent of area affected is gazetted today (April 11).
Any person who considers that he has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved may send a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road on or before June 11, 2003.
The notice and its related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan is also available for public inspection during office hours at the Lands Department's Survey and Mapping Office, 23/F, North Point Government Offices; and the Tuen Mun District Office, 2/F, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road.
