Lam Tin (East) Community Hall, the biggest multi-purpose community hall in Kwun Tong, was officially opened today (March 15) to provide district residents with a well equipped venue for holding cultural and recreational activities.
Speaking at today's opening ceremony, the Deputy Director of Home Affairs, Ms Grace Lui, noted that the new community hall was popular in the district.
"It has been used by many organisations and schools in the district for holding various cultural, recreational, leisure and sports activities as well as classes since its completion, which has greatly enriched the life of local residents and enhanced their sense of belonging to the community.
"I hope the local organisations will make good use of the community hall and its facilities to organise more activities for the district residents," Ms Lui said.
The Lam Tin (East) Community Hall, with an internal floor area of about 700 square metres and a seating capacity of 400, is designed for use by local organisations for holding various cultural and recreational events.
The facilities include a multi-purpose hall, a stage, a stage store, a stage meeting room, as well as male and female dressing rooms.
In addition, a Community Cyber Point has been set up in the community hall for public use.
Also officiated at today's opening ceremony were Chairman of the Kwun Tong District Council, Mr Hau Shui-pui; Kwun Tong District Officer, Mr Albert Lam; and Chairman of the Lam Tin Area Committee, Mr Chan Chun-kwan.
