Announcement of Senior Appointment

The Government announced today (November 2) the appointment of Mr Yue Chi-hang, Deputy Director of Architectural Services, to succeed Mr Pau Shiu-hung as the Director of Architectural Services with effect from November 3, 2002 when Mr Pau proceeds on pre-retirement leave.

Commenting on Mr Yue's appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joseph W P Wong said: "Mr Yue has proven leadership and administrative skills as well as broad professional experience. I am confident that he will lead the Department to face the challenges ahead."

Mr Wong also thanked Mr Pau Shiu-hung for his dedicated and meritorious service during the last 35 years.

The following are biographical notes on Mr Pau Shiu-hung and Mr Yue Chi-hang:

Mr Pau Shiu-hung, SBS, JP

Aged 60, Mr Pau joined the Hong Kong Civil Service as an Apprentice Architect in November 1967. He was promoted to Deputy Director of Architectural Services in September 1993 and Director of Architectural Services in October 1997.

He will proceed on pre-retirement leave with effect from November 3, 2002 after 35 years of service with the Government.

Mr Yue Chi-hang, JP

Aged 53, Mr Yue joined the Hong Kong Civil Service as an Assistant Architect in October 1976. He was promoted to Chief Architect in February 1988, Government Architect in March 1995 and Deputy Director of Architectural Services in July 1998.
