The Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands, Mr Michael Suen, announced today (November 1) that the Chief Executive has re-appointed 11 serving members and appointed eight new members to the Estate Agents Authority (EAA) with effect from November 1, 2002. The appointments are made on a personal basis.
Mr Marvin Cheung Kin-tung has been re-appointed as the Chairman for one year.
Mr Steven Poon Kwok-lim has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman for one year in place of Mr Moses Cheng Mo-chi who will retire.
The following members are appointed for a term of two years -

The following persons have ceased to be members on October 31, 2002 : -

Mr Suen said : "Since its establishment in November 1997, the Estate Agents Authority has been acting effectively as a regulatory body for estate agents. The Government appreciates the contribution made by members of the Authority in the last five years in achieving this demanding task.
"We are grateful to Mr Moses Cheng Mo-chi, the retiring Vice-Chairman, for his vision and innovative ideas in leading the work of the EAA.
We also thank the other retiring members, including the Hon Bernard Chan, Mr Michael Choi Ngai-min, Mr William Fung Yui-sum, the Chairman of Training Committee, Ms Lam Yuk-chun, Ms Siu Yuen-sheung, Mr Stephen Suen Hon-ming and Mr Yeung Ka-sing, the Chairman of Licensing Committee, for their contribution in helping the EAA to lay a solid foundation in its work."
"We are confident that with the new membership, the Authority will continue to work strenuously in raising the standards of service of the estate agent trade," Mr Suen said.
The EAA was established on November 1, 1997 under the Estate Agents Ordinance (Cap 511), with the aims of improving the standard of service provided by estate agents and of protecting consumers involved in property transactions.
