The Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, announced today (September 18) that two new stamp products specially created with the tourists in mind ¡V the "Prestige Souvenir Pack of $10 Definitive Stamps" and "Prestige Souvenir Pack of Reel Stamps" ¡V would be available for sale at Hongkong Post's 38 philatelic offices from September 23, 2002. The stamps in these packs feature various landmarks of Hong Kong and the packs are designed to be convenient and easy-to-carry, making them an excellent souvenir for visitors to bring home as a memento of their stay in Hong Kong.
I. Prestige Souvenir Pack of $10 Definitive Stamps
This prestige pack contains four 1999 definitive stamps each with a face value of HK$10. The stamps feature the Tsing Ma Bridge, a major Hong Kong landmark that has won international acclaim for its architectural design. While maintaining the inaugural format as per their first issue, the four stamps produce different printing effects. Variations are made by using Optical Variable Ink for the texts of "$10, Hong Kong, China", or by the modification of the background colour. Apart from being handy in size, the pack is innovative in design that it can turn into a double-pane photo frame. Visitors may insert their photos taken in Hong Kong into the pack and have an unusual stamp and photo display.
The prestige souvenir pack is priced at HK$48. No sales quota will be imposed.
II. Prestige Souvenir Pack of Reel Stamps
This prestige pack, containing three stamps of each of the 10 denominations of reel stamps: $0.1, $0.5, $1.3, $1.4, $1.6, $1.8, $2.4, $2.5, $3, and $3.1, is a compact collection of the 1999 Definitive Reel Stamps. The stamps which showcase Hong Kong's scenic sites and landmarks, are presented together with photos of the actual places, giving visitors an interesting contrast of graphic and photo images. The prestige souvenir pack is appealingly packaged as a chopstick holder, adding a distinct oriental flavour and making it an ideal souvenir gift for visitors.
The prestige pack is priced at HK$58. No sales quota will be imposed.
