Rock concert features INXS, BOXX and Yip Sai Wing on July 12

*****************************************************

Acclaimed rock band INXS from Australia, modern folk-rock group BOXX and renowned local rock player Yip Sai-wing and his friends will present high-spirited rock music in the "International Rock Concerts" on July 12 at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

Apart from featuring three unique styles of rock music in one evening, the concert with Elvin Wong as the guest MC, will culminate with a drum trio as a grand finale. It will surely be a great treat that should not be missed.

The Australian rock group INXS has been enjoying a high reputation since the 1980s and the attention of rock music lovers all over the world. The group comprises Tim Farriss, Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Garry Gary Beers and vocalist Jon Stevens, who has left the Australian Noiseworks group recently to join them. Their concert in Hong Kong will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the group and, with the introduction of White Soul and Alternative Dance, it would appear that INXS is keen on achieving new heights in their music.

BOXX is a fairy tale of three young Hong Kong people -- Chan Fung, Au Wing-kuen and Chui Kai-chun, who have the same passion for music venturing into the Taiwan rock scene, and eventually conquering both the Hong Kong and Taiwan rock scenes with immense success. BOXX has already released an album in Taiwan, and is about to release their second one. They return to Hong Kong with original and refreshing modern folk-rock and guitar-pop style.

Yip Sai-wing has been concentrating on making new inroads for his music career since the temporary break up of Beyond. His solo album "Beautiful Time Machine" is outstanding; and the audiences can experience a brand-new and captivating performance when Yip stages his new group in the concert.

"International Rock Concerts" is one of the programmes in celebration of the 5th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Two concerts will be held on July 11 and 12 at 7.30 pm, at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium Arena. There will be different rock bands for the two evenings. Apart from the concert on July 12, the kick-off concert on July 11 will feature X.Y.Z.--> A from Japan, Hei Bao from the mainland and DSC from Hong Kong.

Tickets for each concert are priced at $190 and $290 and are available at URBTIX outlets. Half price tickets are offered to full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. 10% discount is offered for every purchase of 4-9 full-priced tickets; 15% discount for every purchase of 10-19 tickets; and 20% discount for every purchase of 20 or more tickets.
