The Ching Chung Bonsai Show cum Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, featuring more than 200 pots of artistically-shaped bonsai that belong to the School of Lingnan, will be open to members of the public and tourists tomorrow (April 19) until April 29 at Ching Chung Koon, a Taoist Monastery in Tuen Mun. The opening hours will be from 8 am to 6 pm daily. Admission is free.
In addition to bonsai display, there will also be orchids, oriental orchids, floral exhibits, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese paintings, and exhibition boards on forest protection.
The event is a key programme of the Hong Kong Tourism Board's "City of Life: Hong Kong is it!" which features Tuen Mun as the Recommended District of April.
To enhance the Chinese cultural experience, Chinese calligraphers and painters will conduct workshops on Saturday afternoons and Sundays during the exhibition period. Moreover, "Young Sky", a dance performance presented by the City Contemporary Dance Company under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Cultural Ambassador Scheme, will also be staged at Ching Chung Koon from 2 pm to 4 pm on April 20 (Saturday) and from 12 noon to 2 pm on April 21 (Sunday).
The 11-day Bonsai Show cum Exhibition is organised by the Ching Chung Taoist Association of Hong Kong, and with assistance from the Tuen Mun District Office, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, the Hong Kong Artistic Orchid Association, the Hong Kong Oriental Orchid Association, the Hong Kong Flower Club, the Rainbow City Inn, the Art Inn and the Green Power.
