The Police appeal to drivers not to drive without a valid driving licence following the arrest of a 37-year-old man in Tsuen Wan on March 4.
At about 5.45 pm, the man while driving his taxi along Hoi Pa Street towards Tai Chung Road in Tsuen Wan reportedly knocked down an eight-year-old boy at the junction of Kai Hong Close.
The boy was injured and was sent to Yan Chai Hospital for medical treatment.
The driver was arrested for driving whilst disqualified. He had been disqualified for six months since January this year.
He was also arrested for obtaining pecuniary advantages by deception because he had produced a copy of his driving licence to an agent of the taxi owner on February 19 for hiring the subject taxi for business.
The arrested man has been released on bail and was required to report back on March 11.
A Police spokesman urges drivers not to drive whilst disqualified. According to the Road Traffic Ordinance, any person who drives on a road whilst disqualified will be liable to a fine of $10,000 and imprisonment for twelve months.
