The Land Registry today (January 3) released the land registration statistics for December 2001.
The Land Registry last month received for registration 7,662 sale and purchase agreements on residential and non-residential building units.
The figure represents a decrease of 21.2 per cent from November 2001 and an increase of 53.4 per cent over December 2000 respectively.
The total consideration of these agreements in December was about $17.7 billion, up 5.4 per cent and down 5.1 per cent when compared with the amount in the previous month and December 2000 respectively.
The figures are contained in the monthly statistics by the Land Registry on deeds relating to property transactions received for registration in the Urban and New Territories Land Registries in December 2001.
These statistics generally relate to land transactions executed up to four weeks prior to their submission for registration as there is usually a time lag between the execution of deeds and their lodgement for registration.
