Consultancy study on Landscape Value Mapping of Hong Kong

*********************************************************

The Planning Department has awarded a consultancy contract for a study on the Landscape Value Mapping of Hong Kong to establish the baseline condition of the territory's landscape resources.

The main objective of the consultancy study is to provide a systematic reference framework to facilitate landscape assessment and broad environmental assessment of major projects at a territorial level.

A spokesman for the department said today (October 10) that the main deliverables will be a landscape character map and a comprehensive landscape resource database for the whole of Hong Kong.

"The study will be completed in about 18 months. We will consult key stakeholders, professional bodies, the local communities and the general public at suitable stages on the findings and recommendations" he said.

The contract was awarded to the Urbis Ltd., as the leading consultant, by the Deputy Director of Planning, Mrs Ava Ng.
