About 300 world-known Chinese photographers will showcase up to 366 pieces of their masterpieces on landscape photography in an exhibition titled Tradition and New- The Art of Landscape Photography by Chinese Photographers at the Hong Kong Central Library between August 26 (Sunday) and September 11 (Tuesday).
Mr Yang Shaoming, President of the Society of Worldwide Ethnic Chinese Photographers said at a press conference today, "Landscape photography originates from Chinese people's affection for the magnificent mountains and rivers and the natural scene of the mother nature. Having influenced by traditional Chinese landscape painting, many Chinese photographers tend to express their love for the country and the motherland in photos, making it an distinctive attraction to the Chinese landscape photography."
Also attending the press conference were Honourable President Mr Chan Fook Lai and Honourable Consultant Mr Jian Qing Fu, and vice-presidents: Mr Li Yuan, Mr Lin Kwang Lim and Mr Tsang Ka Kit of the Society of Worldwide Ethnic Chinese Photographers.
The Exhibition will be officially opened on August 25 (Saturday) at 3.30 pm at the Exhibition Gallery of the Hong Kong Central Library. Distinguished guests including the Chief Executive Mr Tung Chee Hwa, Assistant Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Mr Wang Feng Chao, Acting Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Ms Lolly Chiu will officiate at the Opening Ceremony.
In an effort to improve the general public's interest in landscape photography, the organizer, the Society of Worldwide Ethnic Chinese Photographers has arranged an autograph session and a seminar titled Conducting Photography in Northwest China on August 26 (Sunday) at the exhibition venue.
The autograph session will be hosted by master photographers Mr Chan Fook-lai, Mr Xu Xiao Bing, Mr Yang Shaoming, Mr Li Yuan, Mr Weng Ting Hua and Professor Raymond Clark President of the Royal Photographic Society of England at the Exhibition Gallery of the Hong Kong Central Library between 11.30 am and noon.
The seminar titled Conducting Photography in Northwest China will be hosted by famous photographer Mr Wang Jian Jun. Mr Wang is a world-renowned landscape photographer who will share his experience in doing landscape photography and how to turn imagination into image. The seminar hour is from 2 to 3 pm in Activity Room No. 2 on Ground Floor of the Hong Kong Central Library.
The Tradition and New- The Art of Landscape Photography by Chinese Photographers Photo Exhibition is jointly presented by the Society of Worldwide Ethnic Chinese Photographers and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Admissions are all free-of-charge for the public.
