The globally renowned Shanghai East Radio Chinese Music Orchestra will give a performance to local audience at 8pm on July 28 (Saturday) at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. The stunning concert is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Programmes in the concert include Instrumental Ensemble "Dance of the Golden Snake", "San-Liu", "Dance of the Yao Tribe" and "Spring in Liangshan", Dizi Solo "Three Friends in the Winter Cold - The Pine" by Luo Shoucheng, Zheng Solo "Fantasy" by Luo Xiaoci, Bawu Solo "Love in the Bamboo Pavilion" by Zhuang Zhiwei, Banhu Solo "A Crescent Moon Before Dawn" and "Da-Qi-Ban" by Wang Weiliang, Sextet "Hata's So Pure and White" and "Serenade", Sheng Solo "The Love Song of Butterfly" and "A Shanxi Melody" by Weng Zhenfa, Yangqin Solo "Lin Chong's Midnight Run" by Cao Yun, Bianmang and Orchestra "The Maple Bridge at Night", Erhu Solo "Zigeunerweisen" by Duan Aiai and Suona Solo "In the Deep of the Night" and "Celebrating a Bumper Harvest Year with a Henan Tune" by Zuo Yiwei.
Established in May 1996, the Shanghai East Radio Chinese Music Orchestra was originally under the auspices of the radio station that gave its name. Most of its members came from the Chinese music ensembles of the former Shanghai Film Orchestra and the former Shanghai Radio Television Arts Troupe. It is at present the only professional Chinese music chamber group in Shanghai. The Orchestra is made up of a group of outstanding musicians. In its five years of history, it has maintained an active profile on the music stage, performing in different configurations and at the same time building up a diversified repertoire for themselves. They have given widely acclaimed performing tours in more than a dozen countries and regions, covering Asia, Europe and America.
Tickets priced at $160, $130 and $100 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistant Recipients (Limited student and CSSA tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis). A 10% discount is also available for Friends of LCSD performing venues.
In addition, audiences are encouraged to hire the VIP Box and Lounge for private gathering while enjoying the performance. The patrons who have bought the package of VIP Box and Lounge can enjoy their own receptions and entertainment at the Lounge in private as well as two complimentary car parking spaces. A free pre-concert talk conducted by members of the Shanghai East Radio Chinese Music Orchestra in Putonghua will be organized at 7.30 pm on July 27 (Friday) at AC2, Level four of the Administration Building of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on a first-come-first-served basis.
