Police have apprehended 52 persons throughout Hong Kong during a large-scale Operation Levington conducted today (December 16) to combat triad activities and cross boundary crimes.
The eight-hour operation, which was concluded at 8 am today, was mounted in line with those conducted by the counterparts in Guangdong Province and Macau, and as a winter precaution.
During the operation, officers from six Police regions checked and raided nearly 300 locations including entertainment and residential premises.
As a result, 50 men and two women aged between 14 and 47 were arrested for various offences, namely wounding, blackmail, criminal intimidation, arson, assault, possession of offensive weapon, selling of dutiable goods, selling of obscene articles and possession of dangerous drugs.
Seizure included a small quantity of dangerous drugs and some 5 400 obscene video compact discs.
A Police spokesman reiterated that Police would strive to crack down on such activities, particularly cross boundary and organised crimes, adding that proactive actions would be continued to stem out all unruly elements.
