Chief Secretary for Administration's transcript at Sydney Airport

**************************************************************

Following is a transcript of the remarks made by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Anson Chan, to the media at Sydney Airport today (September 14):

Good morning everyone. I'm delighted to be in Sydney, heading a very strong government and Olympic Team. This is actually our 13th Olympic Games. We have been attending since 1952, but it's the first time that we participate in our capacity as Hong Kong, China. This is a vivid illustration of "One Country, Two Systems", so in other words, it's "One Country, Two Teams". We have, as I said, a 61-strong team comprising 31 athletes. They have trained and worked very hard. We are very proud of our team, and I wish everyone of our participants good luck.

Last year, I had the good fortune of being in Sydney and visited the Olympic Village. I was able to learn a bit about how Australia has gone about organizing the Olympic Games. Part of my reason for being here is to use this opportunity to promote our bid for the 2006 Asian Games. And I have no doubt that the experience that we acquire here will be extremely useful to us. And if we are fortunate in being awarded the honour of hosting the 2006 Asian Games, then I'm sure the Sydney experience will be invaluable. Thank you.
