'Hong Kong 1999' CD-ROM now on sale

***********************************

A CD-ROM version of the Government yearbook 'Hong Kong 1999' is now on sale.

The CD-ROM contains 23 chapters dealing with the various aspects of government activity, ranging from health, infrastructure developments and education to environmental matters and public order.

This year's CD-ROM version is more user-friendly. Readers can more easily retrieve previously read pages and chapters by using the 'bookmark' feature or take notes of contents by using the 'memo' feature.

A menu bar on the left of each screen helps readers to preview all sections in the chapter.

A new display method has also been used to present about 140 colour photographs depicting various aspects of Hong Kong life. Photos are now presented in a 'slide show' format to make for easier previewing and retrieval.

Filled with official facts and figures, the 'HK 1999' is the authoritative source of information on Hong Kong and an invaluable reference material for academics, businessmen and anyone interested in this city.

In the Review Chapter - 'Hong Kong Gears Up for a World Without Walls' - the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Anson Chan, examines how the challenges of 1999 have laid the foundations for continued economic, political and legal development in the new century.

An extensive list of Appendices is also included.

The 'Hong Kong 1999' CD-ROM contains both English and Chinese editions. It is available from the Government Publications Centre, Queensway, at a price of $54.
