Land in Hanoi Road to be resumed for redevelopment

**************************************************

The Lands Department announced today (July 7) the resumption of land at Hanoi Road, Tsim Sha Tsui for a redevelopment scheme by the Land Development Corporation (LDC).

A total of 12 interests in Bristol Avenue, Cornwall Avenue, Hanoi Road and Mody Road will be resumed under the Lands Resumption Ordinance and revert to the Government when the Resumption Notice expires in three months.

"Eligible owner-occupiers of domestic property, apart from their entitlement for statutory compensation, will be offered an ex-gratia home purchase allowance," a spokesman for the Department said.

"Owners and tenants affected may make statutory claims under the Ordinance for settlement by agreement. If no agreement can be reached, they may also apply to the Lands Tribunal for adjudication."

Eligible domestic occupiers of the 42 households affected will be offered rehousing or ex-gratia cash allowance in lieu of rehousing in properties owned by LDC in the urban area.

In recommending resumption, the Government was satisfied that LDC had taken all reasonable steps to acquire these interests on terms that were fair and reasonable, as required by the LDC Ordinance.

"Upon completion of resumption and clearance, the land, with an area of about 7,670 square meters, will be granted by land exchange to LDC for redevelopment of a multi-storey commercial building for office/service apartment use with retail and car-parking facilities," the spokesman said.

"A public open space with an area of about 1,200 square meters will also be provided to bring about significant improvements to the environment in the surrounding area," he added.

Provision of subway entrances will also be made within the proposed development to help link the Mass Transit Railway Tsim Sha Tsui Station and the proposed Kowloon-Canton Railway Tsim Sha Tsui Station.

Details of the land and undivided shares affected are contained in the Government Gazette published today.
