Following is the transcript of the media session given by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, this (July 4) evening at the Central Government Offices:
Chief Executive: Today, I had the opportunity to meet the four civil service unions to listen to their views. I am delighted that the unions had taken a very positive view with regard to upgrading the level of our services, to our citizens, as well as civil service reform. With regard to civil service reform, they had given us some very valuable opinions and we are now looking at their suggestions with a view to see how we can implement them better. The Government and the Civil Service are actually part of the same family and three years since the return, the Civil Service had really made enormous contributions to Hong Kong's stability and prosperity. In the months ahead, we will strengthen our communication with the Civil Service in order to serve our citizens better.
