Security guards hired by owners' corporations or mutual aid committees of private buildings wishing to improve their knowledge and skills in security services may attend a free training course to be held at the Building Management Resource Centre (BMRC) in 2 Mau Lam Street, Yau Ma Tei early next month.
Organised by the Home Affairs Department's Building Management Resource Centre (Kowloon) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Association of Trainers in Security Services, the training course will cover the various aspects of building security such as patrolling duties and techniques, handling emergencies, preventing crimes and fire hazards, liaising with residents, building maintenance and related legislation.
The course, which will consist of three sessions, will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm on Friday evenings of June 9, 16, and 23. Participants will be awarded certificates after completing the whole nine-hour course.

In addition to organising workshops, seminars, and training courses on building management, the BMRC also provides a wide range of building management related information for reference by visitors, including ordinances, booklets, videos, press cuttings, lists of professional and Authorised Persons, and specimen forms. With the assistance of computers, Interactive Information System and audio-visual installations, visitors can obtain the required information on a self-help basis.
General advice on building management matters is provided by the BMRC's staff. Free expert advice in the areas of law, accounting, maintenance and property management is provided by professional bodies by appointment.
Members of the public are welcome to visit the BMRC and make use of the facilities.
