667 speeding offences detected in four-hour operation

A total of 667 speeding offences were detected during a four-hour operation completed this (May 17) morning.

The operation, targeting on speeding, drink-driving and seat-belt offences, started at 10 pm last (May 16) night and ended at 2 am this morning.

During the operation, 21 road blocks were set up in Kowloon and the New Territories.

A total of 523 vehicles were stopped and 45 drivers were breathalysed, resulting in the arrest of two persons for drink-driving and one for driving without a valid licence.

Police also issued 493 fixed penalty tickets and one summons to offenders violating various traffic regulations.
