Police reward notices and wanted posters have taken on a new look.

The posters have gone full-colour with illustrations, diagrams and more Chinese text and photos.

The first new poster was distributed on October 27 featuring a reward notice with photos of a murder victim and the crime scene.

As most posters were erected on housing estate notice boards and in police station report rooms, the new notices also feature more prominent Chinese text.

Criminal Records Bureau Chief Inspector of Police (Support), Mr Ted Aitken-Davies, said the new colour prints were made possible thanks to the formation's acquisition of a new colour laser printer and computer software. Posters were previously done through the Government Printer.

"So now, with all this, we are saving time and saving money," Mr Aitken-Davies said.

"We wanted to re-design the notices and get more information on to them, such as through maps.

"And we also wanted to make them more eye-catching by getting photos, sketches and identikits in colour, and highlighting certain points or headlines in colour text."

The software also allows the production of notices in multiple languages, apart from Chinese and English, should the case concerned require it.

Additional contact information is also supplied on the new notices, such as Force email addresses and webpages.
