The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-school Co-operation:

¡@ A recognition ceremony will be held at Academic Hall, Hong Kong Baptist University, 224 Waterloo Road, Kowloon at 3.30 pm tomorrow (Tuesday) to mark the end of the Fifth "Parents Also Appreciate Teachers" Drive during which parents gave away appreciation cards to their children's teachers.

First launched in 1995, "Parents Also Appreciate Teachers" Drive is organized by the Committee on Home-school Co-operation. It aims at promoting the spirit of respect for teachers and¡@initiating parents to set an example for their children to follow.

The drive has always been well-supported by parents. This year, parents have given some 900 000 appreciation cards sealed with a thank-you note to their children's teachers to show their gratefulness.

The recognition ceremony is the climax of this activity. The Legislative Council member, Mr Cheung Man-kwong and parent representatives will present souvenirs to some 450 teachers and 30 schools receiving the greatest number of cards. A student choir will sing the drive's theme song at the ceremony.
