The following is issued on behalf of the Provisional Urban Council:

The Lok Fu Public Library has moved to a new premise and is opened to the public today (Saturday).

Occupying a floor area of 470 square meters, about 3 times larger than the old one, the new library now provides more facilities and services to residents in Wong Tai Sin District.

Apart from the adult lending library and the junior library, a newspapers and periodicals section and an extension activities room have been added in the new library, giving users enhanced facilities for accessing reading resources and outreaching programmes. Besides, computer terminals for CD-ROM and Internet searches are also provided.

The Library houses an initial bookstock of some 40,000 volumes and quick reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries and directories as well as various titles of newspapers and periodicals catering to the needs of all ages, occupations and interests.

The new Lok Fu Public Library is situated at Shop no. 112 on the 3rd floor of the Lok Fu Shopping Centre I, Junction Road, Kowloon. It opens from 10 am to 7 pm on weekdays except Thursdays when it is closed. It closes at 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and at 1 pm on public holidays.
