"As the second day of the Lunar New Year in 2000 falls on a Sunday, the day preceding Lunar New Year's day will be designated as an additional general holiday," a Government spokesman said.

"Also, as the National Day in 2000 falls on a Sunday, the day following will be designated as an additional general holiday," he added.
