Police anxious to contact witnesses to robbery

**********************************************

Police invite members of the public to come forward if they have information on a robbery in Tsuen Wan last Tuesday (Apr 20) in which four men snatched from three security guards a cash box containing some $1.8 milion in cash and three Remington shot guns.

The three security guards on cash escort duties were robbed on the first floor of the Fou Wah Centre at 210 Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan, at about 11.40 am.

Four men confronted the security guards at the door of a lift. The four, each reportedly armed with a pistol-like object, ordered the guards to squat. They snatched from the guards their shot guns and a brown metal cash box measuring 60 cm x 50 cm x 100 cm, marked with "720" in black paint on top.

One of the suspects is in his thirties, standing about 1.6 metres tall. With a dark cap, the man was wearing a light coloured vest and a pair of light coloured trousers at the time of robbery.

Police believe the cash box was carried by two of the robbers during their flight and all the culprits might have escaped by a getaway vehicle which was either parked in a nearby carpark or being driven by their accomplices.

Police appeal to anyone who might have seen the robbers dashing out from the commercial centre or fleeing in their getaway vehicle to call the Police Hotline at 2527 7177 or the Regional Crime Unit, New Territories South, at 2631 8436 which is manned round the clock.

Investigations by Regional Crime Unit, New Territories South, are underway.
