"Local Courierpost", a new service designed to cater for both business and individual needs for local express delivery of documents or packages, will be launched by Hongkong Post next Monday (April 12).
The Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, said today (Friday) that "Local Courierpost" is introduced in response to the market's growing demand for an express, reliable, convenient and value-for-money alternative in local courier service.
"This once again demonstrates our continuous efforts to meet customers' changing needs," Mr Luk said.
"With our long history of postal experience, we assure customers of on-time delivery with money-back guarantee," he added.
"Local Courierpost" guarantees that items accepted before the morning cut-off time will be delivered by 5 pm the same day, and items accepted before the afternoon cut-off time delivered by 1 pm the following working day.
"If we fail to meet our pledges, we will refund in full the delivery charge," he said.
"Local Courierpost" items can be conveniently posted through 47 designated post offices throughout Hong Kong.
Customers can choose to register as account customers and enjoy free pick-up service. Hongkong Post offers four monthly service packages at preferential rates to meet the different needs of account customers.
For casual customers, items are charged on a per-item basis.
"Local Courierpost" boasts an extensive service coverage. Its service areas include all of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, major areas in the New Territories and the airport.
There is no limitation on the size of the item posted, and account customers can post an item up to five kilogrammes. Proof of delivery records can be provided to customers upon request.
Postings on Saturday afternoon and Sunday are available in selected post offices. Account customers can even arrange pick-up service during Sundays and public holidays.
Copies of an information leaflet on "Local Courierpost" are now available for collection at all post offices.
For enquiries, customers can call the service hotline 2921 2277.
