Police believe a street-level drug trafficking syndicate active in Wong Tai Sin District has been smashed following the arrest of three men and three women for trafficking in dangerous drugs in a series of operations today (Thursday).
After extensive investigations and surveillance of the syndicate, Police officers from Regional Special Duty Squad of Kowloon East (RSDS/KE) and Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East raided a restaurant on Yin Hing Street in San Po Kong about 12.20 pm today.
A 38-year-old man, believed to be the mastermind of the syndicate, was arrested. He was found possessing 68 packets of suspected No.4 heroin, weighing about 68 grams in total.
A man and a woman, aged 51 and 45 respectively, in connection with the syndicate were also arrested inside the restaurant.
In a subsequent search of a flat at 1 Yi Lun Street in San Po Kong, about 12.30 pm, Police further arrested a man and a woman, aged 39 and 35 respectively, believed to be members of the syndicate.
Another raid on a flat at 8 Forfar Road in Kowloon City about 4.10 pm led to the arrest of a 29-year-old woman.
Police seized in the flat 102 packets containing about 102 grams of suspected No.4 heroin, a small quantity of suspected Cannabis, some packing equipment and $116,000 in cash which was believed to be revenues from drug trafficking.
The seized drugs could fetch some $20,000 if sold in the market.
All the arrested persons are still being detained for further enquiries.
Investigations by RSDS/KE are continuing.
