The Director of Education, Mrs Fanny Law, will officiate at the Presentation Ceremony of the Yan Chai Award Scheme for the Most Improved Junior Secondary Students 1998/99 tomorrow (Tuesday).

A total of 391 students from 377 secondary schools will each receive an award of $600 and a certificate at the ceremony. They have attained the best all-round improvement in performance in the last school year.

The annual event, which is open to all secondary schools, including government, aided, private and special schools, aims at encouraging junior secondary students to fully develop their potential.

Some 6,600 students from 3,600 schools were awarded under the scheme. Organised by the Education Department since 1989/90 school year, the event is sponsored by the Yan Chai Hospital Board for the first time. In the past, it was sponsored by the Sing Tao Foundation.
