The provision of toilet attendant service by the Provisional Regional Council (Pro RC) at Chui Tin Street Soccer Pitch Toilet in Sha Tin will be able to facilitate thousands of people visiting the Che Kung Festival Fair being held at the venue and the adjacent Che Kung Temple during the Lunar New Year Holidays.

A Regional Services Department spokesman said :"Taking account of the increasing usage rate of the toilet over the past few years, the Pro RC has recently introduced toilet attendant service to the toilet to further upgrade its cleanliness and hygiene condition."

Each of the male and female portions is looked after by one toilet attendant employed by a contractor between 8 am and 7 pm daily.

To strengthen the service during the festive period, the Pro RC has temporarily extended the service hours to 11 pm until March 2. Besides, overnight service will be provided tomorrow (Monday) and on the second day of Lunar New Year (February 17).

"The toilet attendants are responsible for keeping all toilet facilities clean and the floor dry, refilling liquid soap and toilet paper, and reporting damaged facilities so as to speed up repairs," the spokesman said.

"The cleanliness and hygiene condition of toilets also rests on the support of the general public," he stressed.

"For example, if members of the public can flush the toilet bowl soon after use, odour and the spread of bacteria will significantly be inhibited."
