The following is issued on behalf of the 1999 Hong Kong Flower Show Organising CommitteeˇG
Shutterbugs now have a valuable opportunity to capture local and exotic floral displays at the 1999 Hong Kong Flower Show to be held at the Sha Tin Park and Sha Tin Town Hall next month to win attractive prizes.
Jointly presented by the Provisional Regional Council and the Provisional Urban Council, the Flower Show will be officially opened by Mrs Betty Tung, Wife of the Chief Executive, on March 12.
As one of the highlight programmes of the Flower Show, the Photo Competition has become a popular event well received by amateur photographers in the territory.
The competition, co-organised by the Television Broadcasts Ltd., is open to people of all ages who visit the Flower Show between March 12 and 21. Only photos taken at the showground during the show period will be accepted for entries.
The competition is divided into three groups -- Group A "Posing by TVB artistes and Miss Hong Kong" (Open Section and School Section), Group B "Flora" and Group C "Others".
Contestants in the Open Section of Group A are required to send in an application form on or before March 1 in order to obtain an entry permit for the posing session by TVB artistes and Miss Hong Kong on March 16.
Meanwhile, secondary schools with photographic societies are encouraged to send representatives to participate in the School Section of Group A.
Invitation letters will be sent to the principals of these schools. Those who do not receive the letters but wish to take part in the competition may contact the organiser at 2695 3269.
Application forms are available from all districts offices of the Regional Services and the Urban Services Departments, as well as all Fotomax outlets. The deadline for all entries is April 9.
Winners will be awarded trophies, cameras and photo developing cash coupons.
Adjudication will take place on April 23 and all winning entries will be displayed at Sha Tin Town Hall, Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Kowloon Park and Hong Kong Park, right after the Prize Presentation Ceremony to be held in May.
