The following is issued on behalf of the Grantham Scholarships Fund Committee:

The Grantham Scholarships Fund Committee is inviting nominations from all secondary schools for Form Six students to compete for the "Grantham Scholars of the Year" Award.

The 24 awards - eight for Form Six students in Hong Kong, eight for those in Kowloon and eight for those in the New Territories - are aimed at singling out students who are all-rounders. They must be high academic achievers, active in extra-curricular activities and dedicated to community service.

Each secondary school principal may nominate a maximum of two students on or before February 6, 1999. A Selection Board will undertake the initial screening of all the nominees before interviewing the shortlisted candidates.

Each awardee will be presented with a scholarship grant of $10,000 and accorded with the prestigious title of "Grantham Scholar of the Year".

The results will be announced late April, 1999.
