A pilot Speedpost Drop Box is put on trial in the shopping arcade of Times Square, Causeway Bay as from today (Wednesday), the acting Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, said.
"Provision of the drop box is part of the enhancement programme continuously made for Speedpost to achieve higher levels of customer satisfaction. It serves to extend our Speedpost acceptance network and provides more convenience to our customers," Mr Luk said.
"As from today, customers would have extra avenue to post their Speedpost items, apart from collection at their premises or posting at the 125 post offices, the largest acceptance network in the territory," he said.
Placed on the ninth floor of the shopping arcade, the box will allow Hongkong Post Speedpost account customers to post Speedpost document items without the need of prepaying postage at the time of posting.
Casual customers may also make use of this facility provided sufficient postage is prepaid on the Speedpost items by means of postage stamps or private franking machine postage labels.
The box is cleared five times daily from Mondays to Saturdays at 10.30am, 2.00pm, 4.30pm, 6.00pm and 8.00pm and once at 3.00pm on Sundays or public holidays.
Postal stationery and Speedpost service leaflet are available inside the compartments of the box for easy access of customers. It has graphical illustration to guide the customers in using the box.
