New appointments to SLFAC announced

The Government today (Friday) gazetted the appointment of two new members to the Subventions and Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee (SLFAC) with effect from November 1, 1998.

The two newly appointed members are Dr Lo Wing-yan, William and Mr Tung Chi-fat.

Dr Lo Wing-yan, William, is a senior executive of a foreign bank in Hong Kong. He is also a member of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Industry and Technology Development Council as well as the Open University of Hong Kong. Dr Lo has extensive experience in the business sector and participates actively in community service.

Mr Tung Chi-fat is the Director of the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council. He is an experienced social worker with over 15 years of service in a wide range of social services, including services for the elderly, rehabilitation and youth services.

A government spokesman said, "Mr Tung is expected to provide positive contribution to discussion at SLFAC drawing on his extensive experience in the welfare field. We are also delighted to have Dr Lo on SLFAC who will further broaden the representation in the Committee."

Together with the twelve incumbent members, the SLFAC will continue to advise on applications from welfare agencies, for subvention from public funds for allocations from the Lotteries Fund and for permission to hold flag days.

The Secretary for Health and Welfare, Mrs Katherine Fok, welcomed the new members and looked forward to their contribution in SLFAC.
