The Government today (Friday) gazetted the appointment of two new members and the re-appointment of six members to the Subventions and Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee (SLFAC) with effect from October 1, 1998.

The two newly appointed members are Mr Lo Wing-sang, Vincent, and Dr Yuen Tsang Woon-ki, Angelina. The re-appointed members are Mr Michael Lai Kam-cheung, Mr Darwin Chen, Ms Nancy Tsang, Mrs Camille Tang Yeh, Dr Leung Man-fuk and Mr Wong Che-ming.

Mr Lo Wing-sang, Vincent, a solicitor by profession, is also a Council Member of the Hong Kong Red Cross as well as the Honourable Legal Advisor of the Hong Kong Society for the Aged. Mr Lo is expected to contribute positively to the work of SLFAC with his legal knowledge and experience in social services.

Dr Yuen Tsang Woon-ki, Angelina, is an Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is the Board Member of the World Vision (HK), the Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Social Workers Association. Dr Yuen is a respected academic in the field of social studies and has shown keen interest in community service.

A government spokesman said: " The new members will help broaden the representation of the SLFAC. Members from different sectors of the community will be able to advise and contribute valuable comments from their areas of expertise.

"We are also delighted to be able to benefit from the continued contributions from those members who have been re-appointed for another term."

Together with the four incumbent members: Ms Wu Kit-ying, Wendy; Mr Lau King-chiu, Henry; Mr Wan Chi-keung, Aaron; and Mr Lau Chi-keung, the SLFAC will continue to advise on applications from welfare agencies for subvention from public funds, for allocations from the Lotteries Fund and for permission to hold flag days.

The Secretary for Health and Welfare, Mrs Katherine Fok, welcomed the new members and looked forward to their contribution in SLFAC.
