One nomination for the Legislative Council by-election in respect of the Financial Services functional constituency was received during the nomination period, which ended today (Wednesday).

The nominee is Mr Fung Chi-kin, a securities broker and managing director.

Under the law, the Returning Officer must declare the candidate as being duly elected in a gazette notice within 14 days of the expiry of the nomination period if the number of validly nominated candidates does not exceed one.

The two-week nomination period started on September 24.
