Appointments to Curriculum Development Council

The Government announced today (Monday) that Dr Cheng Hon-kwan, has been re-appointed as the Chairman of the Curriculum Development Council (CDC). In addition, the following serving members have been re-appointed:

All appointments are for a period of one year with effect from September 1, 1998.

Dr Catherine Chan, the Assistant Director (Curriculum Development Institute) of the Education Department, serves as the vice-chairman in her ex-officio capacity.

Mr Au Wai-hung is the managing director of ABC Data & Telecom Limited. He is a member of the Committee on IT Training, Vocational Training Council.

Ms Chan So-ming is teaching in Creative Primary School. She is the chairperson of the CDC General Studies Subject Committee (Primary Level).

Mrs Chow Luk Ying-pui is the principal of the Society of Boys' Centres - Hui Chung Sing Memorial School and is currently a member of the CDC Special Education Co-ordinating Committee.

Mr Chow Sik-cheong is the principal of Sheung Kwai Chung Government Secondary School, and is currently a member of the CDC Secondary Co-ordinating Committee and the Co-ordination Committee with Secondary School Principals, Vocational Training Council.

Mr Ho Kwok-luen is the principal of Buddhist Chung Wah Kornhill Primary School. He is a member of the Co-ordination Committee of the TOC Assessment Mechanism.

Prof Ho Man-wui, is the Registrar of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation.

Mr Ng Sui-kou is the principal of Ho Ngai College(sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen). He is the chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Development of New Technical Curriculum, and a member of the CDC Secondary Co-ordinating Committee and the CDC Prevocational Education Co-ordinating Committee.

Mr Tsoi Heung-sang is teaching in Queen Elizabeth School Old Students' Association Secondary School.

Dr Wong King-keung is the chairman of Newmark Group of Companies (Hong Kong). He is the chairman of the CDC Ad hoc Committee on Holistic Review of the Mathematics Curriculum.

Ms Wong Siu-fung is the principal of the Fanling Assemblies of God Kindergarten.

The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Mr Joseph W P Wong thanked the former members, Dr Chuang Siu-leung, Miss Fung Pik-yee, Mr Lau Yiu-fai, Ms Lee Wai-ling, Mr Li Shiu-tsang, Mrs Ling Lau Yuet-fun, Mr Seid Sun-ng, Mr Sum Fu-ming and Mrs Wong Lam Yuen-ching, for their contribution to the CDC in the past years.

The CDC advises the Government through the Director of Education on all matters relating to curriculum development for the local school system from kindergarten to the sixth form.
