Hongkong Post today (Tuesday) launched Speedpost Insurance - a new service designed to offer customers complete peace of mind when sending packages overseas.

The new service, underwritten by Winterthur Swiss Insurance (Asia) Ltd and marketed by Zuellig Insurance Brokers (HK) Ltd, provides additional coverage to documents, samples and merchandise against loss or damage whilst being sent from Hong Kong to overseas countries through Speedpost.

Under this optional service, five different plans have been developed to cater for different customer needs. The premium starts from HK$35 to HK$175, with coverage ranging from HK$10,000 to a maximum of HK$50,000.

Announcing the launch of Speedpost Insurance at a ceremony today, Postmaster General Mr Robert Footman said the new service is part of Hongkong Post's ongoing effort to provide more value-added services to customers.

"As a service provider striving to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction, Hongkong Post always looks for new initiatives to enhance our services," Mr Footman said.

He added that with the support of Winterthur Swiss Insurance (Asia) Ltd and Zuellig Insurance Brokers (HK) Ltd, Speedpost services will become more competitive with those being offered in the marketplace.

Mr David Zuellig from Zuellig said, "We are pleased to be associated with Hongkong Post, which has been providing good quality and reliable postal services in Hong Kong."

Speedpost has one of the largest delivery networks in the world, serving 82 countries, including 1,900 cities in China. Information of Speedpost Insurance is now available at all post offices.
