The following is issued on behalf of the Provisional Regional Council:

The Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground located in Shing Mun Road, Tsuen Wan will be opened for public use this (August 1) Saturday.

Occupying a total area of 4.8 Hectares, the sports ground will open from 8 am to 10.30 pm daily except Fridays.

The sports ground consists of a floodlight natural turf soccer field, a one 8-lane 400 metre all weathered synthetic running track with standard facilities for athletic jumping and throwing events as well as two spectator stands with a total of 5,000 seats.

Hire charge of the grass pitch will be $170 per session ( a session equals to one and a half hours) (Non-peak Period) and $230 per session (Peak Period). An additional charge of $120 per session will be needed for the use of floodlight after 6 pm every day.

Non-peak Period includes 8 am to 6 pm, Mondays to Fridays excluding public holidays. Peak Period includes 6 pm to 10.30 pm, Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The sports ground is accessible by Kowloon Motor Bus No.32B, 32M, Mini-light Bus 82M, 81M and Public Light Bus from Hoi Pa Street to Cheung Shan Estate.
