Last passenger flight leaves Kai Tak

A Cathay Pacific aircraft left Hong Kong International Airport at Kai Tak at 00.02am today (Monday), the last passenger flight to depart the airport before its closure.

The aircraft, flight No. CX251, was bound for Heathrow airport in London.

The last incoming passenger aircraft landed at 11.38pm yesterday (Sunday). This was a Dragonair flight, KA841, arriving from Chongqing.

Aircraft movements are continuing, with 29 planes flying to the new airport at Chek Lap Kok before Kai Tak's lights are turned off.
