The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation.
A recognition ceremony will be held tomorrow (Saturday) to mark the end of the fourth "Parents also Appreciate Teachers' Drive".
Parents had sent some 700,000 appreciation cards to teachers of their children during the campaign.
The "Parents also Appreciate Teachers' Drive 1998" is organised by the Education Department and the Committee on Home-School Co-operation.
Launched in 1995, the drive aims at creating a culture of respecting teachers.
This year, the committee had distributed some 700,000 cards to parents via schools and parent-teacher associations.
Sealed with a thank-you note, parents then sent the cards to teachers showing their appreciation.
The Deputy Director of Education, Mr Kwan Ting-fai, and the chairman of the committee, Mr Tik Chi-yuen, will present souvenirs to some 360 teachers and 33 schools.
A 70-parent choir will sing at the ceremony while teachers to be recognised will receive flowers as gift of thanks.
