The Water Supplies Department will build fresh and salt water service reservoirs in Shau Kei Wan to meet the development needs there.

The Shau Kei Wan East High Level Fresh and Salt Water Service Reservoirs, located at the junction of Tai Tam Road and Chai Wan Road, will have a total capacity of 8,500 cubic metres and 500 cubic metres respectively. The works aim to provide adequate water supply to private and public housing developments in Shau Kei Wan high level areas with a projected population of 57,000 by the year 2000.

The project will also include laying four kilometres of fresh watermains with diameters ranging from 30 to 45 centimetres and two kilometres of salt watermains with diameters ranging from 20 to 30 centimetres.
