![]() Chief Executive to present 1997 Policy Address
The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, will present his 1997 Policy Address on October 8 (Wednesday).
He will begin his address at 2.30 pm. The proceedings will be broadcast live on five television channels, as well as Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) channels 1, 3 and 5, Commercial Radio(CR)-AM864 and Metro Plus. RTHK will also broadcast live both the video and audio version of the Policy Address on the Internet at http://www.rthk.org.hk.

Mr Tung will give a press conference immediately after the delivery. The proceedings will be broadcast live on TVB, Wharf Cable (News 1) and RTHK-1, 3 and 5.
The radio and TV stations will carry a five-minute message by the Chief Executive on his first Policy Address the same evening. The message will be broadcast by TVB-Jade at 5.40 pm, TVB-Pearl at 7.10 pm, ATV-Home at 5.53 pm, ATV-World at 6.55 pm, Wharf Cable (News 1) at 10 pm, CR-1 at 6.30 pm, CR-2 at 6.05 pm and CR-AM864 at 5.05 pm, Metro at 5 pm and RTHK-1, 3, 5 right after the delivery.
Mr Tung will take part in a live panel discussion between 8.30 pm and 9.15 pm which will be broadcast by RTHK-1 and 5, TVB-Jade, ATV-Home and Wharf Cable (News 1). RTHK will also broadcast live the programme via the Internet.
Copies of the Chief Executive's speech in English and Chinese will be available to members of the public from 5.15 pm that day at all District Offices, the Government Publications Centre, ground floor, Low Block, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway and the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department on the 17th Floor, Siu On Centre, 188 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai.
A Policy Address leaflet will also be available from 5.15 pm at eight Mass Transit Railway stations, three Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation stations, District Offices, Housing Authority shopping centres, the Government Publications Centre and the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department.
On Thursday (October 9), the Chief Executive will take questions from callers phoning in RTHK 1 and 5's "Talkabout", RTHK 3's "Hong Kong Today" programmes and RTHK-7 from 7.45 am. Phone-in numbers are 1872 311 for the Chinese language and 2338 8266 for the English. RTHK will also broadcast live the production on Radio 1 (Cantonese) and Radio 3 (English) on the Net.
Mr Tung will address a luncheon organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and co-organised by a number of Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations for the business community. RTHK-3 will broadcast live the proceedings.
In the afternoon, he will brief the Provisional Legislative Council on the Policy Address and answer questions from members. The proceedings will be broadcast live by ATV, Wharf Cable and RTHK-1, 3 and 5.
